Membership in the Syrian Environmental Observatory SEO aims to establish a network of environmental experts who work through their various work sites (governmental or non-governmental) to produce a Syrian environmental information system that helps to extrapolate the environmental reality in Syria and produce the Syrian environmental map with proposing appropriate solutions to environmental problems and support decision-making To respond to environmental issues, in addition to providing the observatory members with the latest Syrian environmental research and studies, and working on exchanging experiences through training programs and environmental awareness sessions.
Membership Categories
The foundation of SEO membership is the philosophy that every individual member, working in the environment sector, contributes to making Syria a better place to live. SEO offers a variety of membership options and benefits that are designed to meet the specific needs of our community.
- Professionals:: Individuals involved in or interested in the Syrian environment living inside or outside of Syria, and working in the Syrian environment with more than 5 years of experience, with the Governmental Institutions or Non-Governmental Organization.
- Executive: Upper-level managers interested in an expanded suite of SEO products/services.
- Academic: Instructors/Professors interested in subjects related to the Syrian Environment
- Professional Operator (PO): Individuals involved in the day-to-day operation of the Syrian environment sector (water, agriculture, housing, solid waste, and energy)
- Young Professional: Students in the universities, and engineers with 5 or fewer years of experience in work

Membership Policies
- Membership in the observatory is divided into personal membership or institutional membership (voluntary teams - local civil society organizations).
- Membership in the observatory is voluntary and does not mean that you are an employee of the Environmental Protection Agency.
- Membership in the observatory does not require the approval of the entity you work with if you are an employee of another entity.
- Membership in the Observatory does not constitute a conflict of interest with any other work undertaken by the member, whether public or private.
- The personal data of the members is kept with the Environmental Protection Agency and will not be shared with any party outside the observatory.
- Responsibility for information on the educational level rests with the member who provides it, and the Environmental Protection Agency does not have any means to verify the authenticity of the documents and certificates submitted.
- A member can contribute to the observatory by submitting one or more of the following: training - environmental reports and research - environmental warnings - project proposals - media content - environmental awareness campaigns -
- Members' contributions are reserved in their name and cannot be used outside the observatory without their consent.
- A member of the observatory does not receive any financial compensation for membership, but he may receive a fee in the event of participating in some of the funded activities.
- Members of the observatory have priority to participate in the training and workshops organized by the Environmental Protection Agency.
- Members of the observatory have priority while applying for jobs in the Syrian Environmental Protection Agency (by virtue of the experience they gain during their participation in the observatory’s activities).
- The active member has the right to request an experience certificate for the period in which he participated in the activities of the observatory, and the certificate will be granted to him after evaluating his participation by the observatory administra
- Active members of the Environmental Observatory obtain a membership card in the Syrian Environmental Observatory, valid for a period of one year, containing (membership number - personal data - membership category - work sector) and they are not entitled
- A member of the observatory can terminate his membership at any time and has no responsibility or obligations toward the Environmental Protection Agency.
- The Environmental Protection Agency has the right to terminate the membership of individuals who provide false documents or information or violate the ethical policy of working in the environmental protection sector.
