The water crisis in Northern Syria, poses significant challenges to the residents and institutions operating in the area. This executive summary provides an overview of the assessment conducted to underst and the water governance challenges in Northern Syria and outlines specific objectives guiding the research. The primary objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the water crisis in NW Syria, the assessment aimed to gain a thorough underst anding of the water governance challenges facing the area, encompassing the structural, information, and engagement layers of water governance. A recent situation report highlights the persisting challenges in Northern Syria, where access to water remains unequal, posing significant public health risks and necessitating ongoing reliance on humanitarian assistance. Despite the escalating crisis, the primary water sources for people have largely stayed the same, indicating the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts, including measures like water trucking, retrofitting water stations, and ensuring electricity supply through grid, solar systems, and generators. This underscores the continued importance of transition to sustainable interventions in ensuring communities' access to water and reduce decency on humanitarian aid.
