EPA aims to enhance irrigation infrastructure by rehabilitating systems managed by three FAs in Mansoura. Additionally, the EPA plans to replace the open canals irrigation systems with a closed water carrier, introduce renewable solar systems as the primary electricity source for pumping systems, maintaining diesel engines as a standby in emergencies. The EPA will also provide an integrated package of training and extension services to revitalise FAs' capacity and develop farmers' skills in smart agriculture and smart irrigation techniques. This will include the establishment of demonstration plots supported by modern irrigation systems to be used as Farmers Field Schools (FFs) to convey the best farming and irrigation practices. In addition, training of the FAs would cover areas of good governance, leadership, financial management, inclusive member engagement and participation strategies (i.e. for women and youth) as well as sustainability and social responsibility.
